About WCGS

Wake County Genealogical Society welcomes all who are interested in genealogy.

Our focus is not limited to Wake County or North Carolina ancestors and research, but include records research, finding aids and skills, historical context, map skills for tracing ancestor migration, genetic genealogy - DNA and cousin matching, the Genealogy Proof Standard, and much more.

We also offer the opportunity to network with your fellow family history enthusiasts.

Wakecogen meets virtually via Zoom on the 4th Tuesday monthly.**  Our meetings are free and open to all with registration. Meetings generally last from 6:30 to 8:pm. Visit the WCGS website for the the meeting topic list, registration information and **special scheduling for Nov/Dec.

The Wake County Genealogical Society (WCGS) was organized in April of 1982 to promote genealogical study and research; serve as a medium for the exchange of genealogical or historical information; encourage the preservation of genealogical or historical records; and provide cultural, educational, and social opportunities involving genealogy.

In 1983, WCGS was incorporated as a nonprofit organization under the laws of the State of North Carolina.
