Excerpt from the Society of the First African Families of English America Facebook Announcement:

On behalf of the Board of Directors and our distinguished Conference Committee, it is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us for the 2027 SOFAFEA Annual Conference to be held at the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, located at 428 N. Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia 23220, on April 23–24, 2027.

This annual gathering offers an opportunity to reconnect with fellow members, strengthen friendships, share knowledge, and celebrate our collective interest in history, heritage, education, and community. We also encourage you to invite your family members and friends to join us for this special occasion. Their participation will make the conference an even more rewarding experience and provide an opportunity for people of different generations to learn, explore, and enjoy the rich history of Virginia together.

The conference venue, the Virginia Museum of History & Culture, is an outstanding setting for our annual meeting. Operated by the Virginia Historical Society, the museum preserves and interprets the history of Virginia and its people, connecting the past with the present through exhibitions, historical collections, documents, photographs, artifacts, and educational programs.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Virginia's complex history, from its earliest inhabitants and colonial beginnings through the American Revolution, the founding of the nation, the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the many changes that have shaped the Commonwealth and the United States.

The museum's collections and exhibitions offer opportunities to examine the experiences of the many people who contributed to Virginia's development, including Indigenous peoples, African Americans, military personnel, political leaders, families, and ordinary citizens whose stories are essential to understanding our shared past.

Holding our conference at this respected historical institution provides a fitting environment for discussion, learning, fellowship, and the appreciation of heritage of our ancestors.

Over the next few weeks, we will keep you updated on our activities, and of course you will also be updated on our private Facebook page.
